If I leave the PC alone and the monitor shuts down (I think) my Linux system locks up. No keyboard, nothing, just a blank screen.
Anyone with the same problem? I have the latest Radeon driver package installed from AMD and it works. Except for this case. Display Power Management is turned off. Now I try to turn off the PowerDevil...

This sounds like a Kernel level hardlock. If you are running compositing, try disabling it.

UPDATE: Compositing was not the problem. KDE locks up without compositing too. Anything I could do (paste some log here) to help with the problem?

If you have any screensavers, try disabling them. Also, which graphics drivers are you using?
Also, have you configured Powerdevil to perform anything else when shutting down the screen?
