hide the i in the system tray

in kde 4.3 the notifications i in the system tray is displayed all the time

how can i hide it when its inactive but still have it working for downloads etc (like kde 4.2 behavior)

I don't have KDE 4.3, but in KDE 4.2 you can hide icons in the tray by right-clicking on the tray -> System Tray Settings, and adding icons to the "Hidden" list. I guess the same is possible with KDE 4.3.

It does not appear to be possible to hide the "I" icon in the System Tray. this was likely done intentionally, but you could try filing a feature request to be able to hide it when there are no notifications to be displayed.

The behaviour was likely changed to avoid leaking memory and/or based on usability issues.

I found it pretty annoying that it popped up and disappeared all the time. When I wanted to click my amarok icon i often misclicked because of the icons sliding to the left or the right :P
