According to what I've read, Strigi should be classifing every bit of data in my system, possibly even including the text itself within my many documents.
great! Now..umm...how do I search it? I would assume it used the search box in the kickoff menu, but it seemingly dosent. So either I'm an idiot, or Strigi isnt functioning properly (I have a screwed up battery meter, which is probably the cause) Any suggestions?

You can use KRunner ( Alt + F2 ) to perform Nepomuk ( Strigi ) searching assuming you have the appropriate runner enabled. Kickoff should use KRunner to perform searching ideally, like Lancelot does ( you can use that if you would like start menu based searching )

Lovely!
Hmm...is there any way to get Kickoff using Strigi in the same way as Lancelot? (I like lancelot, but I like the animations in Kickoff more!) :P

Do a search in this forums for previous post about strigi and nepomuk and a search for bugs in bugs.kde.org to avoid surprises. Nepomuk integration is not mature yet.
In my case, a lot of my music is not indexed correctly so nepomuk can't found it and symlink integration is not implemented at all because nepomuk works only with fullpaths.
