Is it possible to delete a file using Dolphin and not send it to trash i.e. permanently delete it?
It can be done using the CLI but if you are already using the GUI it would be useful to have this capability. I find Dolphin is very slow at deleting files (and quite slow emptying the wastebin) therefore if a file is particulary large it would be good to avoid the wastebin altogether. Alternatively a threshold on the wastebin for large files so that it prompts 'file too large for the wastebin would you like to permanently delete it?' would be useful.

You can do it with Shift+Delete (shortcut adjustable in Settings -> Configure Shortcuts...).
If you want it to show up in the right-click context menu: Settings -> Configure Dolphin... -> General -> check "Show 'Delete' command". (You can also change the "Ask for confirmation" behavior in that dialog).
