Hello,
in the new KDE 4.3 RC2 is python-kdebase4 in Version 4.2.96 missing which lead to dependencies problems. Does any one know when or if this program will be compiled? Thanks a lot Michael

I'm afraid I don't know, but unless you rely on plasmoids written in python, your best bet for now is to simply uninstall python-kdebase4. That package is only meant to provide python-bindings to plasma and the only thing you will be missing if you remove it is the ability to run and/or develop such plasmoids.
I assume it will be updated soonish in the factory repo.

If you have a Novell account, then you can login to the Build Service interface and get information on the packages status. It may have compilation issues, waiting in the queue for you architecture, etc.

Well, it's up now. For some reason selecting "Python plasmoid" or however it was worded before is not a part of the window you get when choosing "Install from local file" (maybe changed in 4.3? Haven't played with python-plasmoids for a while). Anyway, it works again. I'm just a bit curious...to whoever may know. Are the plasma-python bindings harder to build than other bindings? The reason I wonder is that whenever a binding is missing from an update (and potentially blocks upgrades because of dependency errors), it always seems to be the python one.

Problems with python bindings in openSUSE are usual. If you use python plasmoids like me, it's better you wait until packages will be available. Actually I can't live without "Magic Folder"
![]() I don't know if this is a bindings related problem or an specific openSUSE packages problem but, sure, it's really anoing. |

Hi,
I came across this plasmoid at least a 1000 time but... how do I use it? Seems to be a filter on configured directoris? Thanks Michael

Magic Folder's operation mode is simple: you drag and drop files on it, and according to (even complex) regular expression(s) they're moved to the appropriate directory. Useful to reorganize files.
To be back on topic, python-kde4 and python-kdebase4 are now available on the KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop repository, so you should be able to install them.
