So I tried to assign plasma activities to virtual desktops by zooming out of plasma, clicking the, "configure plasma" button that appears and ticking the appropriate checkbox. It created a bunch of new activities that you can't remove, so I presumed it worked.
Except it didn't. When I tried to zoom into one of them, it always zoomed in to the same one, regardless of whether I chose to zoom into that one. Switching desktops didn't change the activity, and I couldn't find a way to tell it, "Right, THIS activity to THIS desktop" (since the ZUI wouldn't let me zoom in on any other activities). Am I the only one experiencing this problem?

Activities display themselves depending on what's set as desktop 1 when you zoom out. So try zooming out, selectign another virtual desktop, then zooming in.

After I found this thread, I set 4 different activities on my virtual desktops. However, this feature is not really well implemented yet so it seems. I have the following issues:
1. When logging in, all 4 desktops are activated. I see some spinning cube motion. This is a rather disturbing sight since it looks like things are going haywire. 2. When my session is established, I am taken to virtual desktop 4, whereas normally I am of course taken to VD 1 3. Wallpapers only get activated on VD4. On the other desktops I need to go into desktop settings. It shows my selected wallpaper, so all I have to do is click OK immediately. I am running KDE 4.3 from Debian Sid.

This has also happened to me some times and i'm in a kubuntu box, so you're not alone.
To was able to leave it like i wanted playing with the values of the group [ViewIds] in .kde/share/config/plasma-desktoprc, looking also at plasma-desktop-appletsrc to know the ids of the activities. Of course, allways backup that files before making changes ![]() This feature needs a little time to mature and work as it's expected but it's great it's with us already. |
