We been told that dual head support would take time to
get included in kde 4 .. now , i dont know how true that is , which is why i ask. I got a fully running kde 3.5.9 working in dual head, when i switch all i see is one screen and there's a X for a mouse on the second display. Are there workarounds ? Anything that can be done to get dual head working ? Thanks ![]() Fuzzy |

I cannot speak für Gentoo, but a colleague of mine has an working dual-head configuration on some kind of SuSE version. I have Kubuntu running and am also working at home with my laptop and a connected monitor. What I do is:
when I want to switch it on (sometimes i have to restart the x server, though). Maybe this can help you?

I have a xineraam setup working with gentoo and the migration form 3.5.10 to 4.1.2 went with no problem at all. Seems like you have a problem with you xorg configuration.

cruzki : hi .. well xinerama was repeatedly mentioned to me as with a working status in both , the reason im looking for dual head is that my two screens have different phisical sizes, my xorg accomodates these just fine , but i need to try something else i guess that will work in both .
Blizzz : thanks for the suggestion , im logging out to try that particular combination , with a few variants to adapt to my system of course. I'll let you al lknow how it goes. Thanks for answering and wish us canucks good luck .. it's election night and none the candidates deserve to become a PM .. ask me what's new ; ) Fuzzy |

Xinerama/TwinView/BigDesktop/etc are all officially supported and actively maintained.
Xrandr is under heavy development, works for some but not others. Multihead is unmaintained and therefore breaks left, right and center. |
