KDE 4.1.1/2: Screensaver breaks DPMS (or vice versa?)

I posted this in kde-forum.org previously but with no solution so I'll try here and hope for the best...

I'm running Kubuntu 8.04 and recently upgraded from KDE 4.1 to 4.1.1. (and now 4.1.2) Since upgrading, my DPMS stopped functioning properly. Normally I have my screensaver set to kick in after 5 minutes then have the display turn off after 10 minutes. The screensaver kicks in but the display no longer shuts off.

I have seen this on my current IBM T42 laptop as well as a generic desktop. On the desktop, every once in a while (about 1/2 the time) DPMS actually works but it's hit and miss.

What I did discover is that if I disable the screensaver, DPMS works just fine. I have also noticed that if the screensaver is enabled and I change DPMS to start before the screensaver, the screen will blank (appears to power off) briefly then the screensaver will come on and turn the display back on.

So, my question is...
Anyone else and is there something anyone could recommend I try to fix this??

Thanks in advance...

Yes, that would be exactly what I am experiencing. My problem never resolved itself since it started, however, the odd thing about it is the desktop that I have this problem with does not alway exhibit this behaviour.

Do you think I should add to the tracked bug my own comments experience? I don't want to go in there as a "me too"...

Sure, if you could add something useful, go ahead. Every addition could be of help to track down this bug.
