Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right place to post, please move if not. I have just installed KDE 4.1.2 on Gentoo but I have a problem with some text not showing up when logged in as a user and using the XAA acceleration method. If I log in as root I can see the text. If I switch to the EXA acceleration method I can see the text as both user and root. I don't have any issues like this in other desktops (XFCE nor Gnome). Examples of the text that is missing are the title of applications on the taskbar (I currently have the Firefox logo, a large blank space, then the Thunderbird logo, followed by another blank space), the default clock in the bottom right (next to Klipper), and the 'Add Widget' list text (there's a widget Icon, a blank space then the star). Most other text seems to be present and correct. I guess this is a Plasma issue? I can't use EXA as I get background corruption when moving windows and other graphical glitches. The system is a Thinkpad T41 laptop with a Mobility Radeon 9000 graphics chip with it's own 32MB RAM and 512MB of system RAM. The only other anomaly I can think of is that running GLXGears as a user seems to limit the FPS to the VSync (50 FPS) where as root quite happily hits over 800 FPS. This happens regardless of desktop (same in XFCE and Gnome). If someone could kindly tell me which application to install in order to take screenshots, I'll gladly supply some. Many thanks for your time. Pete. EDIT: Using DRIConf I've fixed the VSync lock under the user, now getting over 1800 fps.

If this issue has been resolved, could you please mark the thread as solved, using the "It's Solved" button? Thanks in advance.
