removing desktop widgets

Sat Aug 15, 2009 3:22 pm
I have spent some time searching through this forum with no luck but I can't imagine that I am the first one to ask this. I am trying to find a *simple* way to completely remove a plasma widget/applet from my system.

I can go into ~/.kde4/share/apps/plasma/plasmoids/ and remove them from there and then into ~/.kde4/share/kde4/services and remove the .desktop but that appears to remove plasmoids but not superkaramba widgets. I can remove the .desktop from /usr/share/kde4/services/plasma-applet-foo which removes it from the widgets list but doesn't remove it from my system. I can also use 'plasmapkg -r foo' but every single one tells me 'Removal of foo failed." (executed as user or as root with -g).

So once a superkaramba widget is installed where does it live? It used to be ~/.superkaramba but that doesn't appear to exist anymore. Is there an easy way to do this and if not... why?? It would seem to me that a desktop as well thought out and polished as KDE4.3 would be able to do something as simple as this. I hope I've just overlooked the obvious.

Thanks in advance!

If you run "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental" after removing the *.desktop files does that have any effect?
