Look for sth like touchfreeze for a very simple GUI tool.
Or, configure your touchpad to turn of tapping after a certain timeout with syndaemon or synclient. Googling for these two commands will give you a lot of info. Personal gripe: why does KDE 4 not have an onboard setting tool for touchpads / Wacom tablets / touch screens?

On your keyboard there might also be a function to turn off the mousepad. For example on mine there is Fn+F7.
