Hello,

I'm using kde 4.3 in kubuntu 9.10. If i want to end a session via the kde menu(shutdown, restart, logout), it does not work. Programs stay open, but if i want to say shutdown again, the confirmation window does not pop up.

- I tried it with an empty .kde folder, then it shuts down properly. but i don't want to redo all my settings.
- (sudo) shutdown -h now still works
- if i end all programs like kopete, kontact, etc, the problem persists
- yakuake stays open, so i do have a console to debug with

Does someone have an idea how i could debug that? If so, plese tell me.

Maybe try to remove
Code: Select all
$(kde4-config --localprefix)/share/config/ksmserverrc

to correct the logout behavior.

Thanks, but it did not change the behavior(except that after a foced reboot it started with a clean session).

While trying, I noticed the HDD light flickering a while after hitting shutdown. Not sure what that means, though.

You can change this "clean-session-behavior" in Systemsettings -> Advanced -> Session Manager.

Solved the problem after reading in the ubuntu forums about it:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=7806322
which references a bug report at
http://osdir.com/ml/kde-bugs-dist/2009-08/msg02999.html

So the solution is to deactivate the logoff-sound, even if no sounds are played anyway.
