I want to know if there is a way to open, say PDFs, from folder view to an already existing instance of konqueror as a new tab rather than it creating a new window of konqueror? Too bad there is no option for "opening external files in new tabs instead of new windows" under general->tabbed browser.. Yeah, the closest one is the option for external URLs, but even having that checked did not result in the desired behavior.

As far as I am aware, this should respect the setting that Konqueror already has.

Try associate pdf's with konqueror and opening them one at a time. You'll see that new windows of konqueror will open rather than opening the pdf in a new tab

If so, then this is a bug in Konqueror which should be reported at bugs.kde.org if it hasn't already ( please search well, Konqueror has many bug reports already )
