Short cut changes keyboard layout?

Mon Aug 24, 2009 12:31 pm
Hello there,

strange problem with my kubuntu kde:

some keyboard shortcut seems to change the character set, layout whatever.

Not sure which one it is; but it happens about one, two times a week ...
Some unknown keyboard shortcut is hit ... and all of a sudden, in any windows, I dont see normal "english" letters any more, but all kinds of strange symbols.

My workaround:
System settings ==> Regional & Language ==> Keyboard layout
Then i select "just another" layout variant for my german keyboard ... "apply" ... everything works again.

Stupid question: whats the shortcut? I want to disable the function ...

[what i mean by 'another layout variant' ... I have no idea which one to use in the first place, so I am switching forth and back between "default", "dead grave" whatever. all of them seem to work ]

System Settings -> Regional & Language -> Keyboard Layout. Do you have more than one active layout. Also see "Switching Options" and "Advanced" tab. Here the default switching shortcut seems to be Ctrl+Alt+K.

You're welcome. If you still have problems, check Advanced tab under "Key(s) to change layout" and see if you have any checked.
