Hello everyone!
I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right forum, feel free to move the thread where you think it's right... I think that the column view in dolphin is really useful and fast if you use single-click mode, but I'd prefer to use double click for opening files (mostly for muscle-memory reasons, and because it's too easy for me to open a file by error). The problem is that dolphin's column view becomes really slow and awkward to use when you enable double click. Is there a way to enable single-click only in column view and only for directories? ![]() This way we could get fast and comfortable file navigation also when we prefer double click, and just avoid the possibility of mis-clicks on files. Or maybe it could be better to add an arrow or "plus" icon as in detail/tree view, so we can just click on it to enter the directory... regards gerlos

I do not believe this is currently possible. You would need to open a feature request at bugs.kde.org to get this made possible. Although I do think that treating directories and files differently, and only for the column view is not normal.

I agree with gerlos because there is really no reason why you would need to just "select" one folder - if you click a folder in column view, a new column appears, but you can still select more folders.
(If I'm not mistaken, that is how OSX does it, but I haven't used it in a few years so I can't be sure)

Yes, I remember too that OSX does it this way.
I agree, it's not normal to do things differently, so maybe would be better to add an icon near directories, like in tree view, to "expand"/enter them. What do you think? |

Many KDE applications do not break from what settings are applied in a system wide manner. Most applications do not have to do anything special to immediately follow settings such as Double click.
