Hi!
I am looking for the command to switch the displayresolution in KDE (shortcut to "open kcontrol -> devices -> display -> set resolution -> apply"). The purpose of this would be to automatically switch the resolution back from 800x600 to 1280x1024 after i played a game that forces KDE into it's resolution and doesn't dwitch back, so i always must do it manually (Jagged Alliance 2). Is there any dcop or so command? Thanks in advance, Hauke

Alternatively you could install KRandRtray, which is a small application that sits in your tray to offer screen management ( a must if you use a laptop ). you can use it to quickly go back to whatever resolution you desire.

Good idea, thanks. The problem is that i can't see the tray when i am in this low resolution because my kicker seems to be too long (fits perfectly for 1280x1024, but not for 800x600).
It seems pretty weird to me that i can't use a KDE-Feature with a keyboard-command - only by clicking...thought i had gotten over this by switching from windows to linux [edit] just got help from a friend: it's simply
you can find out about possible resolutions on your computer with

Regarding kicker not reacting to the size change, are you using the KDE3 KRandRTray or the KDE4 version? you will need to use the appropriate one.

I use the KDE3-Version. Kicker actually reacted but it's really full (too full for 800x600), so it can't possibly show the tray.
I fixed it this way: WINEPREFIX="/home/hauke/.wine/JA2/" wine "C:ProgrammeJa2ja2.exe" && xrandr -s 1280x1024 That does it. Anyway, thanks for your answers - i first tried kde-forum.org but nobody answered there for 10 days... So i found the new "real" kde-forum and am very happy here |
