i just updated to kde4 and now i have a problem with my tab names in the kde terminal. after a reset, the tab name is set to the default value. Since the field "tab title format" in the tabs section of the terminal options is empty, all open tabs will be called "Shell", eventually. This is very irritating, as I have quite a few tabs open working in different directories.

is it possible to make the tab names permanent so that they survive resets and reboots?

You can use multiple tab profiles to do this. See Konsole > Settings > Manage Profiles. The desired settings are under "Tabs"
