When I use the menu editor and try to save changes, it tells me that it cannot write to $HOME/.config/menus/applications-kmenuedit.menu. I checked permissions. The problem may have something to do with the fact that the $HOME/.config/menus directory does not exist.

EDIT: It started working and created the applications-kmenuedit.menu file. I couldn't tell you why.
