Screensavers and menus

Mon Oct 20, 2008 8:37 pm
Hello all ;)

I'm using kde 4.1.2 and openSuse 11, i have a grey screen instead of regular screensavers i usually have (i use miscellanous so that i can see all of them ) .
Is this supposed to work well ?

Even using latest driver from nvidia (geforce 7900 gs) i still have some tiny problems with my menu for it sometimes disapears, moving the mouse on it corrects it but it can be disturbing , do you know where it comes from ?

Also my session menu keeps a "4.1.1" line (instead of 4.1.2)

how come ?

thanks ;)

if you session menu keeps a 4.1.1 ionstead of a 4.1.2 I think that you had some problems upgrading.
this can also explain why you get a gray screen instead of screensavers.

Rocs developer. (and no, i'm not proud of it) ;D

Have you used the Monitor power options or powerdevil? both will give you that effect, overriding your screensaver. You also may have upgraded when the packages were nearing the end of a rebuild, so some packages ( not enough to break deps ) may be out of date. Try updating again.

Hi,
at 1st in kde 4 i wa missing some default apps like gwenview, konqueror and the like , so i used yast and updated only kde components to be sure everything was there. What way of updating would you recommend ? i usually use console zypper tools (# zypper refresh, zypper up , and zypper up -t package)

About the monitor : i have not used power options on purpose, but i might look this way too, at the beginning the light of the power button turned to orange as soon as i let the pc alone, it does not anymore (this light is blue when the pc works and orange when it's off).
