Plugging in my digital camera crashes plasma-desktop

Hi there, I experience a strange problem on my computer (kde 4.3.3 on kubuntu 9.10):

Whenever I connect my digital camera with a cable to a USB port, plasma-desktop either crashes altogether or partly, for example the main toolbar stops working. When I restart plasma-desktop everything works fine again, even with the camera connected.
Another problem is that my card reader has stopped worked for no apparant reason: When I connect it to a USB port and plug in a memory card, it is not detected (used to work a couple of weeks ago). USB keys work fine, though.

Has anybody else experienced such problems and maybe knows a way out?

Best,
Zsaja

Sounds Solid related. Which version of KDE 4 are you using? Have you used the Device Actions editor to change your Device Actions recently?

I am using kde 4.3.3. Don't know what these DeviceActions are, so I probably didn't change anything there ... :<

Do you mean the plasmoid for checking if some new hardware was plugged in? I use the version with automount (I think it's called device notifier with automount). It works fine with USB sticks, but not with card readers and digital cameras.

Ok, thats good. Is the crash prevented if you switch to the standard device notifier?

Switching to the standard device notifier resolved the problem! Thanks a lot, that was a quick solution. :)

I still have to figure out if the problem persists with the newest version of the automount notifier. And, of course, why my card reader is not working anymore, because that's what made me connecting the camera via cable in the first place. But that's probably not related to this problem, and I'll open a new post for that.
