I can not disable screen saver in KDE 4.
I disabled it in power management settings (all profiles) and system settings - screen saver.

Screen saver is still turning on after some time. Usually it uses a lot of CPU, my laptop's fan start to work...
It is noisy, battery also don't like this.

Somebody know how to disable this?

I'm using KDE 4.3.2, Debian Squeeze.

This was disabled.

Now I enabled 'black screen' screen saver and set very long time.

However, the problem still exists... I'm not able to turn it off.

Do you have compiz installed? If so check that config menu. Otherwise I'm done. Sorry.

Yes I have Compiz.

Now I noticed that 'black screen' screen saver set to long time don't prevent some other animated screen server to start.

It is likely Compiz that is doing this. Compiz is not a KDE application and will not respect any of KDE's settings. As such it is not recommended for use with KDE as it may cause conflicts.

I had the same exact problem, and it was because I had xscreensaver running. Killing it and uninstalling it did the trick.

Why power management does not take into account modification about screensaver for example? Problem is power management and System Settings > Desktop > Screensaver does not work similarly.

I've found you need to change both the desktop> screen saver and display> power control to get the display or monitor to quite shutting off..
