Session windows reopen in a random order

Hello, I have a question about session management: when I close the current session (like turning off the computer) and open it up later, all windows that were previously open are indeed reopened, but in a seemingly random order. For example, I'm used to konsole always being the first, then goes firefox etc. This was no problem in KDE 3.5, it just worked (c), but isn't the case with 4.3.2. Can't it remember the window order when it closes the session, and reopen it exactly that way later?

Thanks.

OS: Kubuntu 9.10/ KDE 4.3.2

This is probably a regression, caused by the port to Qt4, or due to applications starting at different speeds.

Not really, while a session is starting up I can see konsole appear on the left before firefox (obviously), but then the lumpy firefox comes up and pushes konsole away from the left. Needless to say, if I close all running windows and restart them in the order I want, it will lose the ordering next time.

It is possible that Firefox is not respecting the window order settings. Try increasing the value of the focus stealing prevention in System Settings > Window Behaviour.

It even turns out unnecessary to close the session, closing Firefox and reopening it will do: it will push konsole from the left and take its place, no matter what I set "focus stealing prevention" to. Firefox (Iceweasel 3.0.6) worked fine in this regard under Debian Lenny and KDE 3.5. so this is a Firefox bug? [strike]Several other apps I've run seem to be starting in an expected way.[/strike]

Addition: something strange is happening: now any app is starting "backwards", pushing all running taskbar icons to the right. Focus stealing prevention is at its default "low". I've restarted the session just now, but windows are still opening any way the want. Just a few: Gwenview puts itself before konsole but after firefox. KSnapshot puts itself correctly after konsole (last). K3B puts itself before konsole but after gwenview. This is all happening when I run the apps manually, not on session startup! Very interesting.
I can't remember if it was this way before.
