I have run into some problems using Skype in Kubuntu. I hope I managed to get this into the right part of the forum.

Skype insist on using the locale setting as basis for displaying time in the correct way. And I guess that this makes sense as you can use Skype with GNOME, KDE, XFCE etc.

But after some digging, it seems to me that KDE do not work too well with the locale setting. Actually, it does not work at all.

I have set the country/region to Brazil. They use 24 hour time here. But still, the time displayed in Skype is in the 12h format. And this is because setting the region in KDE to Brazil does not change any of the locale settings.

I can absolutely not see any reason NOT to change the locale settings accordingly. I do not stay in two parts of the world at the same time....

The setup for me needs to be as follows:

I need the language to be US English - UTF8 for everything (I don't speak Portuguese too well... I am Norwegian ).
But I need time, currency, measurements etc. to be set to Brazil so that I get everything metric etc.
And my keyboard is Norwegian

Is there a magic button somewhere that I need to push to get KDE to synchronize the locale settings with the KDE settings?

Unfortunately I don't think that KDE sets standard console locale settings, which is what Skype probably uses.

Yes, this is unfortunate... What can be done about it? For me, this sounds like a "bug". Or someone forgot to implement it.

Maybe enter it in the brainstorming area? Or should I go straight for a bugreport?

I think you can enter it as a straight bug report if it does not already exist, however, I do not know how well maintained that area of KDE is ( in terms of the configuration control module anyway )
