KDE4 color-defaults

Wed Dec 09, 2009 7:03 am
Kate(for example) by default used system color scheme, but when I change something in "Fonts and Colors" it used custom prefs. But I can't return to system defaults!
Same happens with systemsettings->appearence->colors, I have changed "Alternate Color(for lists)" and when I return to defaults all my lists don't highlight lines.

The way to resolve is to remove *rc-files for kate it works, but for systemsettings I have too many custom prefs, and don't want to touch anything.

Simply changing colour profile and changing back to your previous one should yield the desired result.
Note that systemsettingsrc doesn't store KDE settings, they are scattered throughout other files elsewhere in the configuration directory.

Changing color-profile does not revert list highlighting, "reset to defaults" too.
Same with the Kate color-settings.

Search for and remove any and all *.colors files in ~/.kde4

Code: Select all
find $(kde4-config --localprefix) | grep colors

I would recommend doing that, yes.

One final file to check. Outside of KDE, edit ~/.kde4/share/config/kdeglobals and remove any section starting with "[Colors"

When I removed all [Color sections - all my colors returns to defaults.
Alternate color in listviews did not appered.

I ha noticed another bad stuff- alternate colors in listviews did not appeared in other users, even if I create new user an run kde4 under it.

:(

Unfortunately I do not know why that occurs. If the user has a clean $HOME, and the issue occurs, I suggest checking your KDE and Qt installations.
