Hi,

I have a computer with opensuse 11.0 and kde 4.3 installed.
I also have a brother mfc240c all in one printer/scanner/copier, using the drivers provided by Brother.

Printing works fine with any linux-application, including kde3, but not with kde4.
The printer does print, but the pages are printed about 4 cm too high and 2 cm too far to the right, resulting in a large margin at the bottom and left, and the print being cut off at the top and right.
I checked both the printer settings in cups and kde4, and they correspond, using a4 as default paper size.
When i print to ps-file, the pages are positioned correctly.
But when i print the file using okular, the positioning goes all wrong again.
Printing with kpdf however works as expected.

Does anyone have a clue why printing in kde4 works differently compared to kde3 and other linux applications?

Kind regards, Rinse

Try checking if any incorrect margins have somehow been entered in. ( Application > Print > Properties. )

Thanks for your reply..

I checked, and the margins were 3,18 mm for each side of the paper.

I changed it into 30 mm for each side to see what happens.

The printer now prints both left and right sides correctly. The printer is still printing a bit too high..

I then changed the values to 40 mm and now the printer does print it all on the page, altough still not the way it looks using the print preview. (it is now offset to the left)

What i noticed using these large values is that okular (or kde's printing backend) seems to scale the page down to fit. The larger the margin, the smaller the output.

I also noticed that kde4 does not remember the changed values, if i hit the print button again, the margins are back at 3,18 mm...

I looked again in cups, and changed the paper size to a4 borderless.

This solves the problem in other kde4 applications, like kmail, but okular still behaves like described in my previous messages..

This is likely a bug in Okular if other KDE applications are behaving correctly.
