Assign keycode as hotkey

Thu Jan 07, 2010 8:39 am
Hello,

is is possible in KDE 4.3 to assign a keycode (instead of a symbol) as a hotkey?
For example the volume control on my keyboard gives keycode 123 (keysym 0x1008ff13, XF86AudioRaiseVolume), I can use the symbol as a hotkey. But the F13-F19 keys just return like keycode 191 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol) and it seems I can't use these a hotkey. Or is there a way?

If not, is this a lacking feature of KDE or is there a reason elsewhere? (e.g. in the X-Server)

Thanks,

Florian

This needs to be done in X. You can use the commands "xev" to get the keycode if needed, and then add them using xmodmap.
