virtuoso-t memory usage

Tue Jan 12, 2010 11:19 am
I dont use strigi. But I like Nepomuk and searching by tags. So to do this, Do I have necessarily lend 130mb to virtuoso-t ??

Code: Select all
kx 2681 0.1 10.1 160664 129108 ? Sl 03:04 1:18 /usr/bin/virtuoso-t +foreground +config /tmp/virtuoso_h

Thats 10.1% of 1280mb of RAM.

Come on guys, 130 megs for providing a simple functionality is not justified to me. Is it possible to run this in *lighter* mode or even better can I use any other, even slower backend.

I would prefer waiting 5s for the search results, rather than getting results fast and giving away 130 megs of my ram.

:(

System settings --> Advanced --> Desktop search --> Advanced settings

You can set the amount of memory nepomuk may use in there.

Well, I guess that's the memory control for nepomuk related processes and its not applicable to virtuoso server.

I have this set at 50m, nepomuk processes seems to respect it. But not virtuoso.

Never mind guys, the memory footprint has come down on subsequent reboots. May be strigi was filling it up. Its sitting happily at 20-30 megs now. Thanks.
