felt lucky and tried altering those nasty '.desktop' files :) :

Now `kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental' doesn't complain any more. But after restarting kde (logging out and in again) the problem persisted.

Well, I guess I'll post a report @ bugs.kde.org, some time tomorrow. Thanks again to you guys ;D !

Lain,

Hi, in first place I present my self, 'cause it's my first post, I'm cnfss. ;)
Second after I'd updated KDE from 4.3.3 to 4.3.4 I had the same problem that you, and I follow everything in this thread but nothing fix it... But I find a way to make ok again, (least in my case): chage the icon set that you've got and later set it back again.

Using KDE 4.3.4 on Sabayon Linux.

Good luck ;)

Hi cnfss,

sorry that it took me so long to reply :( .
I did as you suggested and switched to a different icon set using System Settings and then back again -> didn't fix it.

But I noticed that every time I switch the icon set the drop-down menu works the first time I open the menu editor. After that the above problem occurs. If I switch the icon set once again the drop-down menu works again only once.

Anyway, thanks for your suggestion ;)

Cheers
Lain

ps.: I finally found a bug report matching our problem: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=218352 also there is this other report http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=218530. So I'm not gonna post a report.
