Many of us have that spare laptop lying around, ... somewhere.
Some of us might want to do presentations, or simply just want to help each other and the children take a stroll around the K environment. Nowadays, people are often seen sharing a computer seat. We even see 1 sitting and another (poor soul) standing! This feature will be appreciated (and is highly anticipated) by unix professors and students, too, not just the family. Will KDE help us put that spare laptop to use, with the following release, please ? Do you find this feature helpful? |

I would love it if it were possible to attach two sets of mice, keyboards and monitors to a computer and have both sets work independently of one another such that they would behave as if they were attached to two separate computers, with the exception of reboots, shutdowns, poweroffs, etcetera.

This is a known concept called Multiseat. KDE does not really have to do anything special except possibly with KDM.
This is made even easier using a technology called DisplayLink, however the Linux integration work here is in its extreme infancy.

Ironic mode: Wow, KDE 4.5 will be able to duplicate seats ![]() Seriously: I do not understand your request. May be you want... 1. Using the laptop as another display: Most laptops does not have video input. Its video connector is for output. If yours has and the computer has dual output it is simple, and there are many tutorials showing how to do this, either in "clone mode" or separate displays. 2. Using the laptop as a terminal: Linux is capable for this. If this is what you want, tell it and I'll explain it for you. |
