Possible bug with KDE 4.4 RC3

Wed Feb 03, 2010 11:07 am
Hello fellow KDE fans,

I'm having a problem with RC3 and I'm wondering if other people can reproduce it (I'm using openSUSE 11.2 with all the latest updates in KDE:Factory):

1. Go to System Preferences > Workspace (my system is in Portuguese, so I'm not sure if this is correct in English) and set the dashboard to show an independent set of elements.

2. Add a random plasmoid to the dashboard, for instance the "Now Playing" plasmoid.

3. Close the dashboard and exit your session to KDM.

4. This should cause a segmentation fault with kdeinit4.

5. After starting a new session, your plasmoid will not be visible in the dashboard.

This happens to me everytime I try to set the dashboard to show an independent set of elements. Plus, if I make changes to other plasmoids in the desktops, they will be lost upon starting a new session. When I change the dashboard back to showing only the elements on the desktop everything seems to be fine.

Have you reported it on https://bugs.kde.org?
File a bug so that developpers are aware of the problem.

Excellent! ;D
Perhaps you can try to add a backtrace? That makes it a lot easier for the plasma-developers.
I don't know how it is done on openSuse but it can't be that hard... Try this: http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs:KDE#Useful_Crash_Reports

Sorry I should have told you earlier :<

I tried it, the problem is this crash happens when exiting the session, so I can't do a backtrace with the KDE Crash Handler.
