plaristote Registered Member Posts 114 Karma 0 OS	Back here transitions effects !! Thu Feb 04, 2010 2:09 am Hey ! I'm using KDE4.4RC3 and I have a little issue (since many versions in fact). And, strangely, I'm the only one to get it (well, it seems so at least). First : I saw the slide effect for the Plasma pop-up, which is done by Kwin, doesn't work anymore. It doesn't change anything if the Kwin plugin about that is active or not. Then I realized that every single slide effect in Kwin were disabled : like the one for the tabs. And then again, that there were no more transition effect for the wallpapers of a slideshow, or when I change my wallpaper to another. Maybe a package is missing, maybe I need to edit a conf file, but which one ? Thank for you help already !

Thu Feb 04, 2010 4:58 pm Removing the kwinrc doesn't change anything (except that I get the default configuration of my distribution). I removed also the .xsession-error, end my session, restarted another : and there still is a huge ammount of errors reported in that file. Am I looking for something in particular ? Is it supposed to come from Plasma or Kwin (I guess Kwin) ?

If the effects are missing from its control panel ( System Settings > Desktop > Desktop Effects ), try running "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental" If you see errors relating to "symbols" in ~/.xsession-errors relating to the KWin effects which will not activate, please ensure your packages are fully updated. I also saw that it worked with, and only with the new widget manager of Plasma. This may be related to the fade effect for the wallpapers which is gone also. Yet I don't get the sliding popups. Neither do I get the fade effects for the wallpapers : and this is not done by Kwin I guess, so it's more likely the issue come from Plasma. Is there a way to check Plasma about it ? Maybe it needs a bug report.
