i've been having some trouble with rekonq and arora (mainly slowness, instability, problems with gmail, etc.) and have switched over to konqueror. so far, it's been fast, smooth, and stable. but i have a few questions.
1. is there a way to enable domain completion? for instance, when i hit ctrl + enter, i want konqueror to add the text 'http://www.' and '.com' to the string in the url bar. 2. in options > web shortcuts, i have google set as the default search engine. but when the number of words typed in the url bar is one, konqueror loads comcast search and i get a 'sorry, page not found' error. there is no problem when the number of search words is greater than one. has anyone else encountered this bug? 3. i'd like to be able to use the side buttons on my mouse to go backward and forward in konqueror. is xbindkeys the best way to do this? 4. when i switch tabs, the url bar flickers. is this a common problem? thanks. |

3. works as expected on my pc: even if i type in 1 letter, konqueror brings me to the
searchpage of google. Did you use comcast before google? maybe there is some configuration left behind in the configuration files of konqueror 4. checked with konqueror/kde4.3: doesn't flicker on my pc.

2. fixed. i didn't know that comcast had adopted dns hijacking. rather than try to opt out, i just switched to google public dns.
4. interestingly, there's no flickering today. i'll keep testing. |

some more information: it seems to happen after visiting certain sites, e.g., nytimes.com. restarting the browser fixes it, but the issue can be reproduced simply by returning to a problematic site.

sounds like a bug
you could report it at bugs.kde.org

it might not be a bug if no one else is experiencing it.
in any case, i've moved back to arora for the time being, but i'll continue playing with the other browsers. |

Does the site in question causing the flickering use Flash based content?

not all. neowin.net/forum, e.g., does not seem to have flash content.

I am curious about issue #1, ctrl+enter shortcut for URL completion. I use firefox a lot and this shortcut I use most often. It's absence in Konqueror makes it difficult to adapt. It would a very useful feature in the browser.
