When playing video in Kaffeine and sMplayer the player portion of the window is transparent, the timeline progresses and sound is heard. VLC and mPlayer both function correctly.

Using a different account both players play video correctly.

This just started today so I assume I messed up some config setting but can't imagine what.

Video output for all players is xv

Both accounts have composting on, disabling it makes no differences except the player portion becomes solid black.

thanks,

[RESOLVED] did a system update (included some Xorg rpms), recompiled Nvidia drivers and rebooted

Try removing ~/.config/kde.org/Phonon-Xine.xine.conf

Check for, and move elsewhere anything with "phonon" in the name under ~/.kde or ~/.config or ~/.local
