I upgraded my desktop to 4.4 and now have a duplicate Desktop Folder (one on top of the other) and Panel - my original remains on the left side of the screen while a new one has been added along the bottom.
Can I safely remove the duplicates without messing anything up?

Yes you can, this is specific kubuntu problem whith plasma upgrade script. This is solved for lucid upgrade, but no for karmic(PPA) upgrade.

I use desktop view, so no multiple desktop folders. I, though, have had duplicate task manager and sys tray plasmoids. Usually deleting one crashes the desktop, but when you return you have the single instance.
The 4.4 update, regardless of who created the script, has a lot of nagging problems that the kde folks don't seem interested in regarding how they affect users. Keep using 4.4 and you'll have more and more as you go. Though, all is not lost, this does put the taste of sour grapes into the mouths of established and new users. |

Thanks, just wanted to be sure.
Yes, I take your point, it doesn't look good from the user perspective though (from a Kubuntu point-of-view) I suspected there would be problems as this falls between their release cycle.
