how to mount a remote ISO image?

Tue Mar 23, 2010 2:53 am
Hi!

I have a local software repository on a samba server, on that server I have several iso images ... what should I do to be able to navigate to that samba folder using Dolphin and mount an ISO image when I double-click on that file?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Toshiro.

You will need to have the iso:// KIO slave, which is part of the Krusader project.

Also, since nested KIO slaves isn't possible, you will need to mount that Samba share to the local system.

Thank you for your answer! So, there's no possible workaround to avoid having to mount the samba share locally?

Unfortunately not at this time as nested KIO slaves are not supported.

I believe the ISO kio slave will be part of KDE SC 4.5, so installing krusader will not be necessary.

Just wondering...how do you configure Dolphin to use the kio-slave whenever you click on a iso-file? The only way I've managed to use it outside of Krusader is to manually enter the iso://path-to-iso address.

It isn't possible in 4.4, but I think this is also being implemented in 4.5 (or, rather, this is the reason that the iso kio slave is being moved to kde sc from krusader).
