superkarama --fallback

Sun Mar 28, 2010 12:55 pm
Hi!
I have a Superkaramba theme that i like to use. It is a rss reader. The problem with this theme is that Swedish letters Å Ä Ö comes out as ?. If I start Superkaramba from console "superkaramba --usefallback" this problem goes away.

If I log out and then in again and Superkaramba starts automatically, It dont use the fallback and I have the ? instead of Å Ä Ö again.

I have tried to put "UseFallBack=true" under "[general]" in superkarambarc but that will only work if I start Superkaramba manually from K-menu.

How can I tell Superkaramba to always use the --usefallback?

Edit:
forgot to say that I'm using KDE 4.4.

Your English is fine :)
But it didn't help... I still get the question marks instead of å ä and ö. i have no clue what is wrong with the theme, and why it is working with the "--usefallback".

I did add:
Code: Select all
    data = data.replace('Ö', 'Ö')
    data = data.replace('Ä', 'Ä')
    data = data.replace('Å', 'Å')
    data = data.replace('ö', 'ö')
    data = data.replace('ä', 'ä')
    data = data.replace('å', 'å')
in the rss feed parser, and the coding is utf-8 on all script the theme is using.

I could use a startup scrip that kills Superkaramba and the start it with "superkaramba --usefallback", but that seems a bit stupid.

Is there really no way to tell Superkaramba to always use the fallback?

The SuperKaramba theme should run fine in Plasma... right click on the Desktop > Add Widgets > Get New Widgets > Install Widget From Local File > SuperKaramba.

Yes I know I can open Superkaramba themes with plasma, but it doesn't solve my problem with Å Ä Ö. Starting superkaramba with "superkaramba --usefallback" does. Well seems no one knows how to start Superkaramba with --usefallback as standard. Thought someone would as I have posted in KDE forum.

This issue definitely shouldn't show in Plasma. Can you please file a bug at bugs.kde.org and link to the SuperKaramba theme from the bug report?
