how to edit kick-off settings

Mon Mar 29, 2010 12:57 am
Hi!

I'd like to know how to edit kick-off settings; in particular, I'd like the option to disable the 'Recent Documents' to show up in the menu.

Thanks in advance for any help!

You can't disable things like that. Right-click on the button, then click "application launcher settings". If the option you want to change isn't there, you are out of luck.

I've tried what you suggested and the available options in 'application launcher settings' are really disappointing :(

Maybe it can be modified editing something in the configuration file (I've looked into ~/.kde/share/config/kickoffrc but found nothing useful there), if anybody knows how to do it, please let me know.

Thanks!

You can effectively disable its ability to function by changing the permissions of the folders used for storing this information.

To do so, run the following, which will clear any history existing at that time also:

Code: Select all
rm $(kde4-config --localprefix)/share/apps/RecentDocuments/*
chmod 000 $(kde4-config --localprefix)/share/apps/RecentDocuments

This solution worked perfectly! Thanks bcooksley!
