Hey,
I do not have VNC access to my Suse box running kde. To use Kate I have to export my display and call kate. However I find the menu (file, edit, etc) is very small and difficult to see. I can also export the desktop ./startkde and see a very basic kde instance. My question is, how do I change the font size of the application (not the editor window) through KDE? Thank you ! Also, I'm new to the whole linux platform and absolutely love KDE and kate. Kate has the terminal built right in, makes it great for testing code on the fly!

Have you tried Configure Kate>Fonts and Colours? As far as I can see this is intended as a permanent setting; so it should be the same from wherever you start Kate.
