I'm not sure whether it's KDE related or my distro related (and even whether it's the proper forum to post in), but I'll ask anyway.
I'm still on KDE 4.3.4 (soon to switch to 4.4.x when it arrives in the repositories of my distro) and I have font rendering settings set to their defaults (that is, I haven't changed anything there). I see antialiased fonts in all apps I use except Java ones. Java apps use no font antialiasing at all. Is this normal and expected? Does Java really ignore system antialiasing settings? In Windows it does work fine. Before you suggest them, please note that I do know of certain Java environment variables / app parameters I could change to enable font AA, but that's not what I'm asking about. I'm interested whether the behavior I'm experiencing is expected, that is, that Java by default does not use font antialiasing even though it's working in all other apps. I use Sun's Java on sidux. |

It appears that Java forcibly disables Font Anti Aliasing on Linux, unless explicitly enabled using environment variables at this point in time.

Well, I'm not sure about that. He uses OpenJDK. I use Sun's.
