Creating new desktop links to apps

Sat Apr 24, 2010 3:43 pm
When I create new desktop links to apps, the link itself takes on the default icon of a "cog" rather than the app, i.e. when I created a link for firefox, the link was a cog rather than the usual firefox icon. Anyone know why this is and how I can replace the default cog image with the apps actual image? Thanks.

Are you copying the link from the menus or are you creating them anew? If you are creating them anew, then you will need to set the icon for them manually. This can be done by editing the desktop links using (Right Click) > Properties.

Where in (Right Click) > Properties can I set the icon? I couldn't find any option for setting the link icon.

Simply clicking on the large icon ( beside the text of the items name ) on the properties dialog should be sufficient to open the selector.
