Hi everyone.
Well, I also had this problem when I updated to 9.10 but I was able to use it by choosing the old kernel. This time I tried the same (Install 8.10, update, and see if it works), but it didn't worked out. I've been using Ubuntu 10.4, and it works OK, so I guess it's something with KDE, and probably my **** PC can't handle the effects (I'm guessing that the desktop effects are the problem.) The PCChips motherboard (shame) has an integrated video card, unichrome (sorry, I can't remember the model), and remember hearing that it wasn't supported, so I don't know it's got anything to do with this. Sorry if I can't provide more details. I'm pretty much an average user, and I'm not sure what are the commands to use to check what's the problem. Thanks in advance. |

Please ensure that your Xorg configuration is configured to use the "vesa" driver.
I am aware of an experimental Unichrome driver ( having experienced a machine with a Via graphics chip previously ) which provides limited support however it doesn't support 3D sufficiently to support KDE's Desktop Effects. By forcing the "vesa" driver, this driver should be ignored.
