How do I change the display for the login prompt?

Hi. I just upgraded from 3.5.10 to 4.3.5 and while I've been able to sort out most of the problems, a few remain. The worst one is the fact that KDE now insists on displaying the login screen on the wrong monitor (which happens to be a projector that I do NOT want to fire up every time I log in). I have already configured the monitor as my primary screen (actually it just took over the settings from 3.5, but I checked the settings, and they're okay). I haven't found anywhere where I could specifically define where to adjust the login.

My setup is a 3520 x 1200 xinerama screen, where the monitor is defined as display1 (starting at (1920,0) with resolution 1600x1200) and the projector as display2 (starting at (0,0) with resolution 1920x1080). Any ideas?

Have you found Systems systems>Advanced>Login manager?

I assume you're referring to "System settings>..."?

Yes, I have found it, but most options are greyed out (and unlike in KDE3 there is no obvious way to gain root access to the panel). Furthermore there are no options (greyed out or otherwise) that deal with the placement of the login screen. The "Dialog" tab sounds promising, but when opened it just says "There is no login dialog window in themed mode." The "Theme" tab offers no way to disable/change/touch anything, it's all greyed out.

Note that for non-Kubuntu users, you should replace "kdesudo" with "kdesu"

KDE Sysadmin
