Solved:Splash screen transition

Fri May 14, 2010 5:52 am
When my splash screen starts and it proceeds through the HD icon then the system settings icon, it is here that the screen changes momentarily to a solid background twice in succession to two differnt colors,then back to the splash screen to finish the startup normally. Like a hiccup! Any ideas??

KDE-4.3
Slackware-13.0
Intel graphics

Problem solved: by adding the line(s)
Code: Select all
[Compositing]
Enabled=false

to /root/.kde/share/config/kwinrc
turning off compositing, then logoff for changes to take effect.
To re-enable change to.
Code: Select all
[Compositing]
Enabled= true

Please update to KDE 4.4.3 as this issue may have been fixed in a future release.

I'd rather repair the install I have now if that's possible. Can you give me some insight as to the process and/or calls?

You could try creating a new user and see if it appears there. If it does, then only updating will fix the issue. If it doesn't then it can likely be resolved.
