Hi,
I have OpenSuse 11.2 installed with KDE 4.3.5. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I can't select *.bmp images as a wallpaper. Also if I select slide show and point it to the folder with *.bmp images, they are not shown. When I try to select custom image I noticed that available formats are *.png *.jpeg *.jpg *.xcf *.svg *.svgz Here I have some questions: 1. Do I need to install some extra package(s) to enable *.bmp? 2. Could it be that *.bmp format is not supported for wallpapers or is it just a filter that prevents from listing *.bmp images and is it possible to change it? Is there any workaround, excluding *.bmp conversion to one of the formats mentioned above? Thanks in advance. |

Just add *.bmp in the filter list (or clear the filter text) and press Enter.
Not sure if BMP works however, it would be nice if you could report back.

Thanks, that worked for Type: Image
, but only until I close Desktop Settings window. If I close it and then reopen, filter string becomes default and I have to type each time I want to change an image.Would you know if there is configuration file where I could specify it permanently But it didn't for slideshow when I point it to a folder with bmp images. |

I would recommend updating to KDE 4.4.3 and Qt 4.6 and if the issue can still be reproduced, filing a bug at bugs.kde.org.

Well, I have upgraded to KDE 4.4.3 and Qt 4.6 and problem still the same for images *.bmp is not included in Filter string and slideshow doesn't work with bmp pictures.
So I guess I got to file a bug, unless there are some other ideas... Also themes selection gone somewhere else from Desktop Settings window, but fonts are great after an upgrade

Well, themes are now in System-settings->Look & feel->Appearance->Style under the workspace tab.

It seems like bug has been resolved:
Product: plasma Component: wallpaper-image Status: RESOLVED Resolution: FIXED Target: --- Version: unspecified Priority: NOR Severity: normal and given link to the changes that were done: WebSVN link: http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=1128213 a file called image.cpp was modified trunk/KDE/kdebase/workspace/plasma/generic/wallpapers/image/image.cpp How do I apply it - couldn't find any file named image.cpp and upgrade to newest packages of KDE didn't resolve it Does it mean the fix will be available with next KDE version only? |

Yes, that change will only be available in KDE 4.5.0 at this point in time.
image.cpp is a C++ source file, which needs to be compiled before it can be used.
