Hello,

Debian Testing with KDE SC 4.4.3.

In K Menu > Recently used I find always the same applications each time I log in. When I use programs in the session it updates properly but, when i restart the PC, it shows always the same again:

- Supertuxkart
- Debian Reference
-
-

I don't remember the other 2, but i guess it's not important.

I've been looking for any folder in my home in order to delete it but I don't know which one is refered to the K menu and recently used applications.

Thanks,

Please run "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental" to see if this fixes the issue.

It didn't work.

(I had to run that command as normal user right?)

By the way, recently used applications dont update, as i said, but recently documents do update properly.

Thanks,

Please remove $(kde4-config --localprefix)/share/config/kickoffrc outside KDE.

It didn't work. In fact, recently used apps is empty at the beginning of each session.

My kickoffrc looks like this now

[Favorites]
FavoriteURLs=/usr/share/applications/kde4/konqbrowser.desktop,/usr/share/applications/kde4/systemsettings.desktop,/usr/share/applications/kde4/dolphin.desktop

[KRunner]
loadAll=false

[KRunner][PlasmaRunnerManager]
pluginWhiteList=places,shell,services,bookmarks,recentdocuments,locations

Thanks again,

Please check the permissions of all contents ( including sub-directories ) of ~/.local, ~/.config and ~/.kde*

Your user should have read and write access to all files, as well as user and group ownership.

I have checked the permissions and they are ok.

And, by the way, I have the same problem in another computer with Debian Testing KDE.

thanks

It is possible that this functionality has broken. Please file a bug at bugs.kde.org.

Unfortunately I am not aware of any solution to this.. Has a bug been filed at bugs.kde.org?

Same here... It used to work perfectly but for some reason it suddenly stopped and I always get back to the same applications every time KDE starts, even though the list does change while using apps.

Deleting kickoffrc results in a new file which doesn't even have any "recently used apps" entry... :'(
So I guess the problem is, that despite the file being re generated no "recent apps" are saved on it for some reason. Recently used files, do get saved, though.

Hope it get's fixed soon
