Automatically/timer switch desktops

Wed Jun 02, 2010 2:44 pm
Hi everyone

I was looking all over the place for a solution to automatically switch desktops in a kiosk type environment. What we want to do is to run some monitoring software in different desktops and automatically switch desktops on a timer, let's say every minute switch to a new desktop. Anyone w/ any suggestions on this ?

Thanks,
HC

This should be quite easy to do with a script, for example you can make one that runs
Code: Select all
qdbus org.kde.kwin /KWin org.kde.KWin.nextDesktop

(use qdbusviewer to find more D-Bus calls for KWin).

I would probably use a cronjob for this, although I don't have much experience using it (other than to start a script to backup my data) so I'm not sure if it's the best solution.

If you need more details, don't hesitate to ask. :)
