Does Workspace replace the Desktop or Activity in KDE 4.4?

I was helping a friend with KDE 4.4 (I'm 4.3), and he asked how to change the Desktop theme. I found the answer in this forum, and at http://userbase.kde.org/Plasma/HowTo.

In, viewtopic.php?f=66&t=85188, the response said, "Plasma themes can be changed in System Settings > Appearance > Style > Workspace in KDE 4.4." Workspace? I looked on my 4.3 KDE and in the KDE Handbook.

In 4.3, I kept reading about KDE Desktop and Activities, which equaled Plasma. A Desktop could contain one or many Activities. Where do Workspaces fit into the picture? Is the Desktop and the Workspace the same thing, or is a Workspace just an Activity?

Thank you.

The workspace is the entire desktop, including all activities.
