Dual screen issue on laptop

Wed Jun 30, 2010 9:41 pm
Hi,

I'm using KDE 4.4.4 on Debian/Squeeze, I have a laptop and an external monitor. I configured the dual screen to have a panel at the bottom of the laptop screen and no panel on the external screen.

When I use my laptop without the external screen (when I'm away from home for example) the laptop screen then displays the desktop that was previously displayed on the external screen (so I loose the panel)!

I'd like that the desktop displayed on the laptop screen never changes, whatever I plug or unplug the external monitor.

Any idea? Is this behavior configurable?

It appears that X considers the external monitor to the screen 1 and the laptop monitor to be screen 2. You need to alter the X configuration so that the laptop monitor is always screen 1.
