Installed the stable version on my kubuntu today. I was so pleased with the previous version, it was very stable, had only few flaws. 4.5 on the other hand is a mess now.
First of all, the upgrade was very difficult. Package manager showed all updates as blocked, had to do full-upgrade via command-line. After many restarts, retries and package fixes finally got it working to see that: - I no longer have ktorrent and can't install it at all - VLC 1.1.2 no longer works (maybe not kde problem, but still - a pity) - amarok crashes very often - empty windows appear sometimes, and when I close them, plasma dies and I have to restart (not sure how to explain this one better, you will see yourself - many java programs trigger it) - dolphin is very slow sometimes and crashes as well - many windows (mostly in configuration) don't have any windows decorations and look wine-ugly. Of course, I like some things too, but these flaws outweigh everything. I am very disappointed. |

I also upgraded to 4.5 today and have experienced some buginess that wasn't present in the beta releases but did notice that there are a few packages that have unmet dependencies such as kde-workspace, kde-workspace-data and plasma-scriptengines. I think this will resolve itself as the updated packages get uploaded to the repository. Also, I had to do a apt-get dist-upgrade to get the bulk of the new kde packages so if you just did a apt-get upgrade then you would definitely have trouble.
Hopefully things get resolved soon for the kubuntu repositories as it looks like a great release. |

maybe there was something wrong on the upgrade process, I can use everything with no problems (just some plasma crash when Im messing with many plasmoids and few plasmoids that dont work well on the panel yet)
try an "apt-get install --reinstall" of the kubuntu metapackage |

Some problems solved themselves.
- Found ktorrent built for kde 4.5 on ubuntu forums. - Solved problem with freezing dolphin by hiding the info pane (not very happy about this, but at least I can work normally) - amarok stopped crashing - plasma does not die All other issues are present, I opened separate topics for the most annoying of them. |

Didn't have problems with ktorrent on my fedora 13 system, so I guess it's a problem with kubuntu packaging really.
I had a problem with this in the last RC, but this appears to have been fixed (for me) in the latest release. It may be related to bugs https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=232054 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=245928 ? |
