Adding /usr/bin/printer-applet had no effect, printer applet still starts... Can you give me an example of an application that doesn't start when added in the list? I want to see if there is a problem with my setup or if there is a bug. |

I keep krusader, dolphin, firefox, calibre, and kontact there. A mix between KDE, Qt, and Gtk apps in other words.

Thank you. None of this applications is affected by the list, so the problem is not in printer applet... |

I forgot about this issue. But when I've noticed it again, today, I've decided to clear this issue generally(I have no printer, anyway).
This printer-applet is a python script, located in /usr/bin/printer-applet. So you can just open it and place exit() at the 3rd line. If it happens to have printer some day, just remove this exit() from the 3rd line and execute printer-applet

Is the printer applet NEEDED for printing? If I disable it will I lose the ability to print?

It's not needed, no. All it does is giving you an easy way of managing your print-jobs (see their status, cancel them and so on). If you don't need that, it's safe to disable it.

Not, it is only used for monitoring your printer, stopping/pausing/restarting print jobs, etc. Your computer should print just fine without it.
